Introduction: ACT Test in UAE, The ACT exam, or American College Test, is a nationally recognized standardized assessment that evaluates students’ aptitude, critical thinking, and mental application. Colleges and universities across the United States carefully consider ACT scores when making admission decisions, making these results a crucial part of the selection process.
The exam assesses four key academic areas: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Scientific Reasoning. Additionally, students have the option to take a direct writing test, which is also offered. The ACT is accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in the United States, as well as by over 225 institutions internationally.
Each of the four main sections of the ACT is scored on a scale from 1 to 36. The composite score, which is the rounded average of these four sections, plays a significant role in the admissions process, guiding committees in their selection of candidates.
ACT Test in UAE
The ACT is an excellent alternative to the SAT, offering students another pathway to college admissions. It is widely accepted by colleges and universities across the United States and is also recognized in international education systems, including in the United Arab Emirates. Many universities and colleges in the UAE accept ACT scores as part of their admissions process, making it a viable option for students aiming to pursue higher education in the region.
The ACT’s comprehensive evaluation of key academic skills—English, Mathematics, Reading, and Scientific Reasoning—coupled with the optional writing test, provides a well-rounded assessment of a student’s readiness for college-level coursework. For students who may prefer the format and structure of the ACT over the SAT, it serves as a strong alternative, offering flexibility and broad acceptance both in the U.S. and internationally.
The ACT is available to both U.S. nationals and international students, assessing proficiency in several key academic areas. The exam consists of the following sections:
- English: 45 minutes
- Mathematics: 60 minutes
- Reading: 35 minutes
- Science: 35 minutes
- Optional Writing Test: 40 minutes
The total testing time is 3 hours and 35 minutes, not including breaks.
In the United States and Canada, the ACT is administered seven times a year, while in other locations around the world, it is offered six times annually. The test is managed by the ACT Foundation, the official governing body.
Each of the four core sections—English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science—is scored on a scale of 1 to 36. A composite score, which is the average of these four section scores, is also provided. Test takers are expected to have a strong command of English to perform well on the exam.
