Introduction: Dravidian University Distance Education Courses was established in 1997 located in Kuppam a tri-lingual junction of Andhra Pradesh. The university was established by the government of Andhra Pradesh with the aim to promote Dravidian language. In the past years the university has extended support of Government of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka for sole goal of development and integration of Dravidian language and culture. Dravidian University has come a long way starting with 2 departments in 1999 the university expanded into 20 departments and 6 research centers.

However, distance learning program was started in 2007, and has come a long way of service to education, and the needy community. The university department of distance education offers many courses in the faculties of arts, science, commerce and management like undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Some of the courses are B.A, BBA, B.Com, B.Lib, BCA, B.Sc, M.Com, M.A, MBA, MCA, M.Sc, M.lib and post graduation diploma. Admission is based on the performance of students in the qualifying exams.

The main focus of the university is the development of Dravidian languages and at the same time provides education to the needy students in the society who are for some reason left out of education. Dravidian University has received NAAC accreditation with a B grade and is also approved by the UGC.
