National Highways Authority of India Recruitment 2026 for Chief General Manager, The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) invites applications for recruitment to the position of Chief General Manager (Technical). A total of six vacancies are to be filled.

Candidates who previously applied in response to the advertisement dated 03.07.2025 for the same post on a deputation basis are not required to reapply. Their applications, along with the copies forwarded Through Proper Channel and the requisite supporting documents received from their Parent Departments, will be considered alongside applications submitted under this announcement.

If selected, such candidates will be required to provide a fresh vigilance clearance prior to joining the post.

Educational qualification and experience required	Recruitment Criteria
Essential Qualification and Experience:	1) By Promotion:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.	• Internal candidates holding the post of General Manager (Technical) in NHAI with 3 years regular service in that post; and
• 17 years of regular service in a post carrying the substantive pay scale of Level 10 (Rs.56,100–1,77,500) or equivalent/higher.	• 17 years regular service in posts with substantive pay scale Level 10 or equivalent/higher.
• Out of the above, 10 years of experience in implementation of infrastructure sector projects related to Highways, Roads, or Bridges.	• One-time relaxation: Deputation service may be counted as regular service for calculating the 17 years, under Regulation 25 “Power to Relax” of NHAI (Recruitment, Seniority and Promotion) Regulations, 2024.
Desirable Experience:	2) By Deputation (General):
• Experience in handling Public Private Partnership (PPP) Projects (preference will be given).	From officers under Central/State Governments, UTs, Universities, Government-affiliated Research Institutions, PSUs, Semi-Government/Statutory/Autonomous Bodies:
	• Holding analogous post on regular basis in Level 14 (Rs.1,44,200–2,18,200); OR
	• With 3 years regular service in Level 13 (Rs.1,23,100–2,15,900); and
	• Possessing the essential qualification and experience listed in Column 7.
	3) By Deputation (State PWD Officers):
	• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
	• Holding the post of Chief Engineer on regular basis OR Superintending Engineer with 3 years regular service.
	• 17 years regular service in posts with substantive pay scale Level 10 or equivalent/higher.
	• Out of this, 10 years experience in implementation of highways/roads/bridges projects.
	• Desirable: PPP project experience (preference given).
	Note (i):
	• Normal deputation tenure: 1–5 years.
	• Extension: up to 6th year (Secretary, MoRTH) and up to 7th year (Hon’ble Minister), subject to performance.
	• CES (Roads) officers of MoRTH: deputation max 10 years until 31.12.2026, thereafter 7 years.
	Note (ii):
	• For officers already on deputation in NHAI, past deputation service will count toward the remaining approved deputation tenure.
