Education in Bangladesh is a crucial aspect of the nation’s development. The education system comprises primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, with a focus on achieving universal primary education. Efforts have been made to enhance quality education, teacher training, and curriculum development. Additionally, initiatives have been implemented to encourage girls’ education and reduce the gender gap. However, challenges such as resource constraints and educational inequalities remain, requiring ongoing efforts to ensure inclusive and equitable education for all.
About Rajshahi
Nestled on the picturesque north bank of the Padma River, near the Bangladesh-India border, lies the vibrant city of Rajshahi. This metropolis, with its bustling streets and towering buildings, serves as a major urban, commercial, and educational center in Bangladesh. Its significance extends beyond its administrative role as the seat of the eponymous division and district. Rajshahi is a city brimming with heritage, culture, and opportunities.
Step back in time, and you’ll discover that modern Rajshahi has its roots deeply embedded in the ancient region of Pundravardhana. As you explore its historic sites, you’ll come across the mausoleum of the revered Sufi saint Shah Makhdum. Epigraphic records indicate that the city’s foundation can be traced back to 1634. The area even hosted a Dutch settlement in the 18th century, leaving traces of its colonial past.
Today, Rajshahi stands tall as a center of excellence in various fields. It proudly boasts its role as a significant administrative, educational, cultural, and business hub. Known as the “City of Education,” Rajshahi is home to a plethora of renowned educational institutions, shaping the minds of the nation’s future leaders. Students from far and wide flock to its campuses, seeking knowledge and enlightenment.
One cannot overlook Rajshahi’s rich contributions to the realm of culture and art. The city’s heritage as a historic center of silk production has left an indelible mark on its identity. Admire the intricate designs and vibrant colors of Rajshahi’s silk products, a testament to the craftsmanship and skills honed over generations. And for those with a thirst for knowledge, the iconic Varendra Research Museum stands as a treasure trove of artifacts, antiquities, and archaeological wonders, capturing the essence of Bangladesh’s past.
Within Rajshahi’s bustling streets, the engines of commerce and development never cease. The head office of the Rajshahi Agricultural Development Bank and the Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) stand as symbols of progress, driving economic growth and sustainable development in the region. And as connectivity becomes essential in our globalized world, the Shah Makhdum Airport serves as a gateway, connecting Rajshahi to the rest of the nation and beyond.
What truly sets Rajshahi apart is its commitment to cleanliness and environmental well-being. According to The Guardian, this city shines as the cleanest in all of Bangladesh. This dedication to maintaining a pristine environment fosters a sense of pride among its residents and sets an example for others to follow.
Rajshahi beckons both locals and visitors alike with its promise of a thriving cityscape, a rich cultural tapestry, and boundless opportunities for growth and prosperity. Admission into Rajshahi or Bangladesh in particular is based on Lottery system for both government and non-government schools.
- Non-government schools in metropolitan areas and Sadar upazilas will come under the central lottery. However, non-government schools that are not part of the central lottery will also need to hold a lottery through committees approved by the education ministry.
- Applications for both the government and non-government schools will have to be submitted using the website “gsa.teletalk.com.bd”.
- Students would be able to select five schools against one form. The price of a form has been set at Tk 110 and the fee can be deposited from Teletalk prepaid mobile phones.
- Children aged six and above will be allowed to enroll in Class I.
- For the past decade, admissions to Class I have been taking place via lottery all over the country. Last year, the government introduced the lottery system for all classes of secondary schools.
- However, the admission process at government primary schools is entirely different. The schools enroll all students who apply and no admission test is required.
