Indian Institute of Coal Management Executive Director Recruitment 2026, The Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM) is an autonomous institution established in 1994 at Ranchi and registered under the Societies Act. The institute is sponsored and funded by Coal India Limited (CIL) and operates under the guidance of its Board of Trustees (BoT) and Board of Governors (BoG).

IICM serves as a Centre of Excellence for specialised training and executive development for officials of Coal India Limited and its subsidiary companies. The institute regularly conducts professional training programmes designed to strengthen the knowledge and capabilities of CIL executives.

The Executive Director (IICM) leads the institute and is responsible for advancing its objectives and organisational goals. Coal India Limited is inviting applications to engage one Executive Director (IICM) on a contractual basis. The selected candidate will receive a consolidated monthly remuneration and will initially be appointed for a period of two years.

The contract may be extended for an additional two years, subject to the discretion of the Chairman, Coal India Limited, based on the organisation’s requirements and interest.

Indian Institute of Coal Management Executive Director Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the Executive Director (IICM) position must fulfil the following eligibility requirements:

Age Limit

The maximum age for applicants is 62 years as on the date the detailed advertisement is published.

Educational Qualification

Applicants must hold any one of the following qualifications from a recognised university or institution:

  • A Degree in Engineering in any discipline.
  • MSW.
  • MBA or an equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
  • A postgraduate degree in Management, HRM, Behavioural Sciences, or Finance & Accounts.

A Doctorate or equivalent qualification in Management, HRM, Behavioural Sciences, Finance & Accounts or Engineering will be considered an added advantage.

Indian Institute of Coal Management Executive Director Recruitment 2026 Experience Requirements

Candidates must have at least 25 years of overall executive/ officer-level experience and fulfil at least one of the following experience conditions:

Option 1:

At least 10 years of experience in a reputed management institute, management training institute or government officers’ training institute, with the last two years in such an organisation.

Alternatively, during those 10 years, candidates may have served for at least two years as Dean, Head of Department or Professor-in-Charge.

Option 2:

At least 25 years of executive-level experience in Government, PSUs or private organisations, including at least four years during the last eight years in a corporate HRD/Training & Development (T&D) function.

Option 3:

At least 25 years of executive-level experience in Government or PSUs, including either:

  • At least two years as a full-time Board of Directors member of a minimum Mini Ratna Category-I CPSE, with responsibility for training and development; or
  • At least two years as CMD of a minimum Mini Ratna Category-I CPSE.

Having research papers published in reputed national or international journals will be an additional advantage.

Additional Conditions for Government and PSU Candidates

Candidates from Government or Public Sector Enterprises must have at least two years of cumulative experience in E8 and/or E9 grade in the prescribed or equivalent/higher pay scales, such as:

  • ₹1,20,000–₹2,80,000 (IDA), applicable after 01.01.2017; or
  • ₹1,44,200–₹2,18,200 (Level 14, CDA), applicable after 01.01.2016.

Candidates who possess the required pay scale experience but do not hold the corresponding E8/E9 grade will not be considered eligible.

Applicants currently working with a Government, Semi-Government organisation, PSU or autonomous body must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their present employer.

Requirements for Private Sector Candidates

Candidates from the private sector should have experience in a large public limited company operating in sectors such as:

  • Mining
  • Manufacturing
  • Coal
  • Power
  • Steel
  • Petroleum and Gas

The organisation should have a minimum net worth of ₹500 crore and at least 1,000 executive employees. Preference will be given to candidates working with listed companies.

Medical Fitness

The appointment will be subject to medical fitness certification by a Company Medical Officer. Candidates must be physically and mentally fit and should not have any disease, disability or medical condition that could affect their ability to perform the duties of Executive Director effectively, including in remote, difficult or austere working conditions where regular medical support may not be available.

Documents Required

While filling out the online application, candidates must upload a recent passport-size colour photograph, not older than three weeks, in JPG/JPEG format, along with their signature in black ink in JPG/JPEG format.

The following self-attested documents must also be uploaded in PDF format:

  1. Date of Birth proof, such as a birth certificate, Class 10 passing certificate or matriculation certificate showing the date of birth.
  2. Photo identity proof, such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, valid Driving Licence, Voter ID or another government-issued ID.

  9. Candidates from the private sector must also provide a copy of the physical and financial summary mentioned in their company’s Annual Report.
  10. Government, Semi-Government, PSU and autonomous body employees must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their current employer.
  11. Superannuated executives must submit the Relieving Certificate issued by their last employer.
