India Fellow Social Leadership Program: Fellowship program to enhance leadership skills

Introduction: India Fellow Social Leadership Program is an experiential program focused to train young Indians to tackle the social development issues faced by host organization located in field in the various parts of India. The fellow youth may come from any walk of life; he/she could experience learning from a wide pool of mentors, peers and on-site learning with grass root organization working for diverse causes in India. The program aims at developing and help a fellow realize their own leadership potential in-spite of the fact that they may follow or choose any career path in future and yet they will benefit from this fellowship program.

Applications are invited from interested youth for the December 2019 cohort for the India Fellow Social Leadership program.

 

What is India Fellow Social Leadership Program

The program aims at developing leadership skills to tackle social development issues of India by youths through coaching (mentoring) and one’s own realization of self hidden potential by consciously placing an individual in a challenging social development scenario through host organizations. These organizations are already working at grass root level and have been handpicked by the organizers for the program. The individual has to physically locate themselves at the host organization working site which could be anywhere in India for a period of 13 months to complete the fellowship program.

The fellowship design has four parts which combined together to spread over a period of 13 months. All 4 parts altogether forms the learning process.

 

Overview of the India Fellow Social Leadership Program                                                             

The 4 prime pieces of the India Fellow Leadership Learning Program are as Follows.

  • Training and workshop: The fellowship program will provide in total of 8 weeks of training during your 13 months of fellowship cycle.
  • Work assignment along with Host Organization: The fellow member has to stay fulltime time at the host organizations’ target area and work closely with the NGO team to gain the leaning by experiencing the situation closely by themselves. The majority of the fellowship time, shall be spend in the field of the overall time duration.
  • Constant Engagement: Besides field learning the fellows have to reflect on the learning based on their individual experience through creative writing monthly blogs and lastly a year end essay. Along the way the fellows also have to complete online learning materiel sets and participate in fundraising to enhance their own set of skills.
  • Mentorship training: Here the fellows will have the opportunity to learn from a wide pool of experienced mentors and not only the exposure is limited to the pool of mentors but it expands with gaining knowledge from the experience of host organization, project team and the alumni of the India Fellow.

 Cost of doing  India Fellow Social Leadership Program

Working with host organization the fellow will be supported by them with a monthly stipend of Rs. 16,000 INR , this amount will bear against the travel, food and accommodation bills. Towards the training cost the fellow have to put efforts to fund raise a total amount of 60,000 INR. As per the details from the official website this will be a collective issue from the cohort itself for which fellowship team will provide inputs and support on a regular basis.

 

Eligibility Criteria for India Fellow Social Leadership Program

 

The eligibility criteria is very simple and decent selection criteria with more focus on commitment to work hard and locate any where in India. Below are the highlights of selection criteria.

  1. Age should be between 21 and 28 years.
  2. Graduation from any discipline completes or will complete before the commencement of the program.
  3. Candidate must be an Indian citizen
  4. Commitment to work full time for 13 months.
  5. Commitment and Understanding that the job requirement is to engage you with the community full time for 24/7.
  6. Acceptance to be located in with any host organization anywhere in India working on any thematic issue.

 

Selection Process India Fellow Social Leadership Program

 

The selection process  is a little comprehensive and involves four steps before they announce the final selection.

  1. Online filling and submission of application form on their official website.
  2. Team from India Fellow will get in touch with you through phone for a short conversation.
  3. Complete a short field cum written assignment.
  4. Final step and personal interview at one of the six centers in India which would be at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore.

 

Selection of the deserving candidate shall be announced 45 days prior to the commencement of the fellowship program.
