Introduction: The future scope in biotechnology for students interested in the subject have a wide array of interdisciplinary field to choose from which we will discuss in detail in the piece.

As the name suggests biotechnology is science based field which involves study of various aspects of biology to develop process intended for a new invention contributing to the field of health (medical), Pharmaceuticals, Agriculture, Food, Bio Engineering, Environmental Studies, Animal Sciences and Diagnostics.

Starting with the fact, B. Tech  is an engineering program its takes a student through the biological sciences as well as engineering facet of technology. Therefore the curriculum used in the B. Tech syllabus shall cover biology science subjects as well as engineering process subjects. So all in all it’s a degree with a slight advantage over BSc. Biotechnology. In B Sc.

Eligibility criteria for B. Tech program: Admission in B. Tech Biotechnology is sorted out with a 10+2 certificate with Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics with aggregate marks. There is also an entrance test required to be qualified before the admission is sort but also many universities and private colleges offer direct admission in the program.

Entrance test: The entrance test valid in majority of Universities is the Common Entrance Test (CET). However, the university may take their own entrance test at the time of admission according to their rules and norms. Basically which ever test you might appear the majority of the test will be done on 10+2 syllabus of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English as additional subject to test you on. The final merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in 10+2 and as well as the entrance test.
