Selection Process
The selection process for NCRTC Supervisor Recruitment 2026 will be conducted as specified in the respective official recruitment notifications. The main stages are:
Computer Based Test (CBT)
The CBT will consist of 100 questions carrying 100 marks, with one mark awarded for each correct answer. There will be no negative marking. The examination will have a duration of 90 minutes and will be available in Hindi and English.
The minimum qualifying marks are 60% for UR/OBC (NCL)/EWS candidates and 50% for SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen candidates. Candidates who meet the qualifying criteria will be considered for final selection on the basis of merit. The CBT is tentatively scheduled for November/December 2026.
Medical Fitness Test
Shortlisted candidates will be required to meet the prescribed medical fitness standards under the Indian Railway Medical Manual (IRMM). The applicable medical standards vary according to the post:
- Notice 33/2026 – C01 to C06: C-1 standard
- Notice 33/2026 – C07 to C08: A-3 standard

- Nature of Employment: Under Notice 33/2026, the posts are offered on a contract basis for a period of 5 years, with no claim or right to regularization. Under Notice 32/2026, the appointments are through direct recruitment and include a 2-year probation period.
- Surety Bond: Selected Supervisors under C01–C08 and D01–D05 will be required to execute a ₹4,00,000 surety bond and serve for a minimum of 3 years. For Non-Supervisors under C09–C10 and D06–D09, the surety bond amount is ₹3,00,000, with a minimum service commitment of 3 years.
- Age Relaxation: Relaxation in the upper age limit is available as follows: SC/ST – 5 years; OBC (NCL) – 3 years; Ex-Servicemen – length of military service plus 3 years; PwBD-UR/EWS – 10 years; PwBD-OBC (NCL) – 13 years; and PwBD-SC/ST – 15 years. However, the maximum upper age after applying all applicable relaxations cannot exceed 50 years.
- Allowances and Benefits: In addition to the prescribed Basic Pay, selected candidates will be eligible for Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other perks and allowances as applicable under the Cafeteria Approach.
- PwBD Vacancies: One PwBD vacancy is available under C08 of Notice 33/2026, while three PwBD vacancies are earmarked under D02, D03 and D05 of Notice 32/2026.
- Examination Centres: The Computer-Based Test may be conducted in Delhi-NCR, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kanpur, Agra, Vadodara, Indore, Thane, Pune, Guwahati, Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Cuttack, Harohalli, Jaipur and Patiala. Candidates can select five preferred cities while applying. Once submitted, the choice of examination cities cannot be changed.
- Applications for Multiple Posts: Candidates applying for more than one post must pay the applicable application fee separately for each post. Since CBTs for different posts may be scheduled at overlapping times, candidates may be able to appear for only one CBT if the examination schedules clash.
- Jurisdiction: Any legal dispute arising in connection with the recruitment process will fall under the jurisdiction of courts in Delhi only.
- Canvassing: Any attempt to influence the recruitment process through canvassing or other means will result in disqualification of the candidate.
- Mobile Phones and Communication Devices: Carrying a mobile phone or any other communication device into the examination hall will be treated as misconduct and may result in immediate expulsion from the examination.
- Verification of Eligibility: Eligibility will be verified at different stages of the recruitment process. If a candidate is found to be ineligible at any stage, including after appointment, their candidature may be cancelled or employment terminated.
- Recognition of Qualifications: Candidates must possess qualifications awarded by a UGC-recognised Indian University/Deemed University or qualifications obtained through an AICTE-approved course from an autonomous Indian institution, as applicable to the post.
