Introduction: Jai Prakash University Distance Education Courses is now the most promising universities in the state of Bihar. The Jai Prakash regular university was founded on 22-11-1990 by the enactment of Section 3(b) of Bihar State Universities Act, 1976 with its Head Quarters at Chapra. The university was carved out from then Bihar University which is now (B.R.A. Bihar University) Muzzafpur. At present there are 21 constituent colleges, 11 affiliated colleges in which 2 are deficit Grant Colleges (including one minority college).
The J.P. University, Chapra has achieved its success in translating its primary and provides quality education to the Students of this backward region of Bihar into practical reality. Now the Students of this region, who were unable to go to other Universities inside or outside the State and were compelled to discontinue their higher Studies due to financial constraints are finding themselves in a position to attain higher education & showing their worth, that in no way they are lagging behind the students of other regions.
Jai Prakash University Department of Distance Education was founded in somewhere around 1998 while Mr. N. Prasad was appointed as the vice-chancellor of the university. The objective of forming the distance education department was to reach out to the poor section of the society with quality education who was unable to attend regular college due personal or financial reasons. The aim of the university is to make the youth of the region employable with a valid degree and skills at the same time.
The Jai Prakash University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Jai Prakash University Distance Education Courses Admission Process
For admission into the university, the candidates have to apply for the application form. Application forms can be downloaded from the official website or can be directly obtained along with the prospectus from the study centres.
- Candidates need to pay application fees through Demand Draft drawn in favor of the Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Jai Prakash University, payable at Chapra.
- University does not accepts cash
- Registration fees is Rs. 250/-
- After admission, each candidate will be given an Enrolment number. He must quote the Enrolment number and course name in all future correspondence with the Directorate /Study Centre. Any letter, which does not bear the Enrolment number, will not be entertained.

- Entrance exam scorecard that is valid (whatever applicable)
- Aadhaar card or any valid identification proof / Personal, academic, and address information related documents. Passport size photograph.
