The internship scheme is designed for individuals aged 21 to 24 who are not currently engaged in full-time studies or employment.
To be eligible, applicants must have completed at least their secondary education (Class 10), higher secondary education (Class 12), or hold a diploma or undergraduate degree—such as a BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BCA, B.Pharma, and similar qualifications.

Who is Not Eligible for the PM Internship Scheme?
Applicants will be considered ineligible for the scheme under the following conditions:
- If they are younger than 21 or older than 24 years as of the final date of application submission.
- If they are currently enrolled in full-time education or working in a full-time job.
- If they have graduated from premier institutions such as IITs, IIMs, National Law Universities, IISERs, IIITs, or NIDs.
- If they hold advanced qualifications like CA, CMA, CS, MBBS, BDS, MBA, PhD, or any master’s degree or higher recognized by the UGC.
- If they are already participating in any government-run skill development, internship, apprenticeship, or training programme, either at the state or central level.
- If they have previously completed an apprenticeship under NATS (National Apprenticeship Training Scheme) or NAPS (National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme).
- If the annual income of any family member (self, parent, or spouse) exceeds ₹8 lakh for the financial year 2023–24.
- If any member of the family (self, parents, or spouse) is a permanent or regular employee of the government (contractual employees are not included).
- Foreign nationals are not eligible to apply for the scheme.
