Introduction: Saurashtra University Distance Education Courses is one of the popular universities in Gujarat and came into existence to fulfill the demand of the community students to have a separate university for the Saurashtra region. The demand becomes stronger after the creation of the Gujarat state on May 1, 1961. The legislative assembly of Gujarat passed a Saurashtra University Act in the year 1965 (Gujarat Act No. 39 of 1965). However, Saurashtra University came into existence on 23rd May 1967; initially the university had two headquarters first one on Rajkot and second one in Bhavnagar. As the Bhavnagar University was amalgamated, Rajkot was designated as the only headquarters of the Saurashtra University. At present the university is offering 29 post Graduate Departments and 238 affiliated colleges. The programs offered are can be described as UG, doctorate, PG courses to the students in various fields like Commerce, Arts, Management Law, and Science. The university is well developed and also has experienced faculty members. Admission into the UG and PG programs will be done based on either merit list or entrance exam scores.
