With its origins dating back to 1 May 1787, when it was established by the British East India Company, Mymensingh has grown into the 8th administrative divisional headquarters and the 12th city corporation in Bangladesh. Boasting a population density of 44,458 people per square kilometer (115,150/sq mi), Mymensingh is renowned for being the second most densely populated city in Bangladesh. The name “Mymensingh” finds its roots in the anglicized version of “Momen Singh,” which refers to the Muslim ruler Shah Momin or Momin Singh, an ethnic Bengali Muslim ruler. The city’s elevation surpasses that of other major cities in Bangladesh, reaching over 19 meters above sea level.
Mymensingh is not only known for its historical and geographical significance but also for its association with the Brahmaputra River, exquisite handcrafted duvets known as Nakshikantha, and a captivating rural ballad called Maimansingha Gitika. Additionally, the establishment of Momenshahi Cadet College in Tangail in 1963 reflects the city’s commitment to quality education.

Under graduate admission requirement
Minimum GPA of 2.5 both in SSC and HSC examinations or equivalent,
Or, At least one GPA of 2.00 but aggregate GPA of 6.00 in SSC and HSC,
Or, O’Level in 5 subjects with a minimum GPA 2.50 & A’Level in 2 subjects with a minimum GPA 2.00 (A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2, E = 1),
Or, Average 450 marks out of 800 in GED with five subjects (bellow 410 in any subject is not allowed),
Or, International Baccalaureate/American High School Diploma or equivalent.
Or, Sons/daughters of freedom fighters with an aggregate GPA of 5.00 in SSC and HSC.
Post graduate admission requirement
Minimum GPA of 2.00 (or third class/division) in Bachelor degrees with:
Minimum GPA of 2.5 both in SSC and HSC examinations or equivalent,
Or, At least one GPA of 2.00 but aggregate GPA of 6.00 in SSC and HSC,
Or, O’Level in 5 subjects with a minimum GPA 2.50 & A’Level in 2 subjects with a minimum GPA 2.00 (A=5,B=4,C=3,D=2,E=1)
Or, Average 450 marks out of 800 in GED with five subjects (bellow 410 in any subject is not allowed)
