Introduction: University of Mumbai Institute of Distance Open Learning Courses is an extension of the University of Mumbai that provides education through open mode. The distance education program is famously known as the Institute of Distance Open Learning Courses. The University of Mumbai also has the credit of been the 7th university in India to initiate the distance education in university setting. The distance program in the university came into existence in year 1971 and is located in the Mumbai, Maharsahtra.
At present, the university offers many education programs like Undergraduate courses and Postgraduate courses under the many streams of education like Humanities, Technology, Management and Commerce there are also inter disciplinary courses which one can choose from multiple choices.
The admission to the MMS and MCA is based on the entrance exam, other courses like UG and PG programs admission is based on the merit basis. The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is also endorsed by the DEB New Delhi. Admission is held twice a year, and examinations are conducted every six months in January and July.

University of Mumbai Institute of Distance Open Learning Courses Admission Process
- The admission is initiated by submitting an online application form on the official web portal https://mu.ac.in/distance-open-learning.
- Follow step by step process, the university has kept the process very easy.
- Go to the official website of Mumbai University Distance Education.
- Select the “Click Here For New Registration” button on the website for new registration.
- Already registered candidates have to write a username and password in the “Registered Log-In” section.
- Fill in the correct information on the application form, and then for final registration, submit the application form by clicking the “Submit” button.
- Now the registered candidates will receive their Username via E-mail.
- Now the applicant has to use the username received via e-mail to re-login.
- A detailed Application form will open. Accurately enter all information.
- The candidate also has to upload the documents mentioned below:
- Candidate’s most recent photograph.
- Candidate’s scanned signature.
- Candidates are required to pay the registration fee either by Credit or Debit card or through Net Banking.
- Candidates will receive a successful payment notification via SMS and Email.
- Just before final submission, preview your application form by clicking on the “NEXT” button.
- Now then Save and take a Print-out of the Application Form for future reference.
- Application fees for the individual program are different but students can expect to pay between Rs. 300 to Rs. 600.
